Summary of Position:    The Admissions Counselor and Visit Specialist position promotes the University and its programs to prospective students and their communities. This role assists with planning and facilitating campus visits, and assists the Campus Visit Team in the hiring and managing of student workers. This role also assists in the recruitment process by managing a small caseload of students in order to identify, recruit, admit, onboard, matriculate, and transition prospective students successfully into the University programs and community. The responsibilities of this position may fluctuate in accordance to the needs of the office in any given season.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the scheduling of campus visits, advising prospective students and parents on the best type of visit to meet their unique goals for their visit 
  • Assisting with the promotion, hiring, and management processes for Admissions Visit Team student workers 
  • Managing a small segment of a geographical recruitment territory
  • Providing support for our Spanish-speaking populations through knowledge and communication of the Spanish language 
  • Facilitating on campus visits through campus tours, workshop presentations, and one-on-one meetings with prospective students and their guests 
  • Providing coverage for camps and events both on and off campus throughout the summer and the academic year 
  • Seasonal travel may be required 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • Bachelor's Degree required


  • Experience in admissions, sales, case management, or marketing/communications is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Experience in event planning is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Demonstration of a clear commitment to pursuing the greatest good for students and communities, including promoting student success
  • Demonstration of a clear commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Experience as an IWU alumnus or employee is preferred, but not required

  • Demonstrate highly developed people and public relations skills
  • Exceptional communication skills across multiple mediums, including phone, text, email, and in-person
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence, friendliness/warmth, and conversational skills
  • Capabilities operating comfortably, effectively, and efficiently within MS Office systems
  • Ability to work accurately and be detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible in a highly dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated with strong time management skills
