Job Title: Assistant Director of Career Labs

Reporting Relationship: Executive Director of Workforce Engagement

Unit: National & Global

Department: Career Services N&G-NGBL

Campus Location: Indianapolis Ed Center North

Summary of Position:    We’re looking for a strategic innovator who has a passion for helping people move from where they are to where they want to be.

The Assistant Director of Career Labs will be the dynamic assistant of IWU National & Global’s new Mobile Career Lab. Instead of waiting for someone to enroll before providing access to a great coach and resources for finding direction and building a career, we are flipping the script and offer accessible career coaching to anyone wishing to upskill or reskill. Often, access to those resources requires knowing where to look and how to navigate complicated systems. This position will support drop-in centers and mobile lab attendance at festivals, events, and community centers, meeting people where they are to initiate life-changing conversations and support.

We are building programs that help individuals identify learning pathway options that are at the intersection of their skills, interests, and talents and chart the education and credentialing they might need to achieve their goals (whether or not it involves an IWU option). Through that work, we’ll provide follow-up and coaching as they pursue their next steps.

  • Serve as an expert on best practices and new idea generation for a holistic career and education coaching/advising model that begins prior to enrollment and assists students through their degree and into employment

  • Serve as a career navigator and coach, including scheduling and driving, and staffing the mobile career lab at events across IWU’s regional presence. This will include weekend events
  • Assist with development of additional MCL vehicles including the funding process
  • Demonstrate experience and understanding that enables one to serve diverse populations with excellence, including a focus on serving historically underserved and underrepresented groups in higher education
  • Develop enrollment support and tracking, helping students who elect to pursue an IWU program or degree make a smooth transition into the program of choice
  • Build partnerships in communities we serve to enhance Career Lab services, referrals, and funding including state and federal workforce development initiatives, local employers, and area universities and education providers
  • Create, and execute novel ideas to enhance the reach of the Mobile Career Lab with a high level of excellence
  • Actively develop partnerships across IWU’s organization to help implement new initiatives
  • Demonstrate a Christian worldview and upholds the University's Christ-centered mission in interactions with students, faculty, and staff
