Job Title: HVAC Technician

Reporting Relationship: Lead HVAC Technician

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Facilities Management-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Maintenance Building

Summary of Position:    The primary responsibilities of the HVAC Technician are: Work with Lead HVAC Technician to carry out daily to monthly work schedules; Ensure the provision of uninterrupted, quality HVAC maintenance to the Marion Campus; Provide and exhibit sound stewardship practices as pertaining to budgets within the Mechanical Systems Division; and Monitor and maintain inventories of components and other associated supplies as required for HVAC operations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead HVAC Technician Systems in the development of a Campus Capital Action Plan specifically related to the Universities Mechanical Systems assets by identifying future maintenance items with potential budgetary impact of those items 
  • Daily review and monitoring of Building Automation system as necessary to maintain effective working environments throughout the campus community including off-duty hours 
  • In coordination with Lead HVAC Technician, provide leadership in the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services related to the campus Mechanical Systems 
  • Receive and carry out special assignments as may be directed by the Lead HVAC Technician. May be required to work overtime as directed by supervision 
  • Represent IWU as assigned to internal and external committees, boards, and agencies in related functions and assignments

Education

  • High School Diploma

Experience

  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in HVAC equipment maintenance and repair

Required Skills

  • Highly attentive to details, self-starter, and ability to work without close supervision
  • Creative and innovative; gifted in problem solving; talented planner and organizer
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; discerning and tactful
