Summary of Position: The assistant coach will assist and support the head coach with various duties and tasks both on and off the field as well as embrace a strong desire to see the best for the program and student athletes. Goalkeeping training will also be a big part of the responsibility as well.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Coach must be committed to the Lordship of Christ. This kind of leader is a Kingdom seeker; to their peers a compassionate friend; and to the broken world around them a world changing Christian
This not only means having the correct intellectual belief, but it involves a radical transformation in every area of one’s lifestyle
The Coach must continually seek opportunities to grow and possess strong character traits through the regular practicing of the spiritual disciplines (e.g. prayer, meditation, Bible reading) and develop ministry values that express what God can do in impacting student athletes with whom they interact
The Coach’s ministry strategy is to serve student athletes and the entire campus by creating a spiritually rich environment supporting community development, quality programs and exciting innovative initiatives
The reporting relationship is to the Athletics Director and the Head Coach
The primary responsibilities are to assist, support and encourage a successful intercollegiate athletic program representing coaches and student athletes
Assist the Head Coach to develop, manage, and successfully coach soccer, to include, training, scheduling, recruiting, equipment management, reporting scores and statistics, social media uploads, video editing, and website updating
Ensure strict adherence to all Crossroads League and NAIA by laws and regulations
Ensure adherence with established institutional compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior
Responsible for successful coaching, to include maximizing the team's potential abilities, keeping athletes eligible, supporting the spiritual development of each player, and retaining athletes through graduation
Assist to propagate a comprehensive public relations program
Assist the operations of sport camps and or clinics
Learn, understand, and adhere to all NAIA rules and regulations
Assist in coordinating and developing organized schedules
Assist in planning and implementing daily practice sessions
Supervise student workers (managers)

Education
Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience
Played at the collegiate level and/or youth coaching experience
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Required Skills
Must demonstrate a knowledge for the game of soccer and willingness to continue to grow.
Must demonstrate a mature and expressive Christian faith commitment
Needs to passionately support and articulate the University mission and vision for athletics within the context of that mission
Need to be gifted in supervising and motivating others
Must be creative and innovative; discerning and a thorough planner
