Summary of Position: The Director of the Vocational School provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight for Indiana Wesleyan University's Vocational Apprenticeship Program. This position ensures the effective implementation of a dynamic, industry-relevant curriculum while managing faculty and daily operations with excellence. As a key leader in advancing vocational education at IWU, the Director plays a central role in shaping the future of skilled trades and technical training. Core responsibilities include driving strategic planning, developing and refining curricula aligned with workforce needs, cultivating partnerships with industry stakeholders, and expanding program offerings to empower students for impactful, purpose-driven careers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development:
Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of the automotive technician curriculum, ensuring it meets industry standards and educational best practices
Program Implementation:
Oversee the implementation of the program, including securing apprenticeship locations, coordinating with industry partners, and managing program timelines
Leadership:
Provide visionary leadership to the vocational school, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and student success
Faculty Management:
Recruit, train, and support faculty members, ensuring high-quality instruction and mentorship for students
Student Support:
Develop and implement student support services, including academic advising, career counseling, and life skills development
Budget Management:
Manage the program's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with financial goals
Community Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program visibility and support
Assessment and Reporting:
Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement to university leadership

Education
Master's degree in Education, Vocational Training, Automotive Technology, or a related field
Experience
Extensive experience in educational administration, curriculum development, and program management, preferably within vocational or technical education
Required Skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to inspire and motivate faculty, staff, and students
In-depth understanding of vocational education, automotive technology, and industry trends
