Job Title: Coordinator for Diversity and Intercultural Integration

Reporting Relationship: Vice President for Diversity and Intercultural Integration

Summary of Position:    The coordinator provides high-level administrative support for the Vice President (VP) for Diversity and Intercultural Integration by attending leadership meetings, conducting research and data analysis, preparing reports, handling highly confidential information and requests, engaging in problem solving related to routine matters that arise, assisting in coordinating and tracking work of those who report to the VP, and performing clerical functions such as correspondence, internal and external communications, office management, web updates and university collaborations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain communication and university-wide initiative plans 
  • Project management for implementing strategic planning and measures
  • Support special events and meetings related to community, heritage months and celebrations 
  • Organize and prepare documents, communications, website/portal, grant work and presentations
  • Collaborate with a variety of departments (some examples include the Intercultural and Global Office, National & Global Multicultural Champions, Wesley Seminary, Human Resources, Chapel, Student Government Association, Academic Affairs and Marketing) 
  • Collaborate with local and regional community persons and organizations including regional education centers and community leaders 
  • Support the VP for Diversity and Intercultural Integration to plan, organize, and manage communications and collaborations 
  • Support a wide variety of operational duties including greeting visitors, scheduling, and maintaining the office
  • Be familiar with the University Employee Handbook, policies and committee bylaws in order to assist in clear communication and compliance where needed 
  • Prepare conference request forms, expense requisitions, credit card reconciliation reports, etc. 
  • Manage and maintain data dashboards and analysis reports, committee agendas and minutes and Board of Trustees updates 
  • Collect and analyze statistical data to evaluate the university's current context and progress in accordance with diversity standards and goals 
  • Assist with managing department budget, reconciliation and reimbursements 
  • Provide weekly updates to ensure project timelines are being met and budgets are on target
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 
  • The Coordinator will supervise potential student workers

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public relations, education, event planning, project management, clerical, organizational operations and/or social work/counseling/pastoral experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrate ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of expertise, work styles and conflict resolution approaches

Required Skills

  • Embrace and clearly articulate the mission, vision, and values of the University as well as the biblical foundations for diversity and intercultural engagement
  • A high degree of confidentiality is required
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of culturally responsive communications as well as accepted grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules. Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment; collaborative
  • Well-organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to develop and organize events
  • Excellent customer service and social skills
  • Ambitious, self-starter
  • Time management and proficient attention to detail
  • Problem-solving, creative thinking, and leadership abilities
  • Experience in managing budgets and reports
  • Competent computer knowledge, including such program; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), scheduling and learning management systems
  • Bilingual or multilingual, preferred
  • Certification or proven training related to diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural intelligence or unconscious biases, preferred
  • International or cross-cultural experience, preferred
