Job Title: Learning Technology Specialist

Reporting Relationship: Learning Technology Manager

Unit: National & Global

Department: Future Learning Lab

Campus Location: Online/Remote

Summary of Position:    Reporting to the Learning Technology Manager in the Future Learning Lab (FLL), the Learning Technology Specialist (LTS) is the primary contact for the on-going maintenance and support of courses in Brightspace, IWU-N&G’s learning management system (LMS). This role collaborates closely with the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team to ensure that courses meet established quality standards and to address any technical challenges that may arise from integrating third-party tools. The LTS also supports the various FLL initiatives and projects. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and proactive, providing essential technical support to facilitate seamless learning experiences.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting
    • Resolve LMS support tickets submitted by faculty/students promptly and professionally
    • Collaborate with the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team and the Future Learning Technologist to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the LMS
    • Provide technical support and guidance to faculty on LMS-related questions and issues
  • Course Management & Quality Assurance
    • Perform course edits, updates, and loading in the LMS as requested by academic programs and faculty
    • Maintain uniform formatting and design across courses to align with quality standards
    • Document course edits, updates, and technical resolutions to maintain accurate records
    • Integrate, configure, and maintain third-party educational tools to enhance course functionality and student engagement
  • Other Duties
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to support collaborative solutions
    • Engage in ongoing training and professional development offered by the LXD and FLL teams to stay current with tools and best practices
    • Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by the Learning Technology Manager

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required
  • Candidates with extensive, relevant work experience may also be considered in lieu of a degree

Experience

  • Proficiency in using LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, and basic HTML/CSS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Experience in online education or e-learning preferred

Required Skills

  • Experience creating or maintaining online courseware or website content
  • Ability to troubleshoot formatting and embedded media errors
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
