Job Title: Enrollment Counselor

Reporting Relationship: Associate Director

Unit: National & Global

Department: SEP Strategic Enrollment & Partnerships

Campus Location: Online/Remote

Summary of Position:    The individual in this position has primary responsibility to assist prospective students through the enrollment process, as well as assist with the initial retention of students for assigned degree or certificate programs. As the primary representative of IWU to prospective students seeking to obtain a degree in one of the aforementioned areas, the person filling this position must have excellent knowledge of the degree programs and a superior general understanding of the target audiences for which the programs are designed. Working in consultation with the Associate Director of Enrollment, this person assists in developing and modifying plans to recruit, enroll, and retain students for these programs.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply the departmental enrollment and contact strategies to serve students in a timely manner through the process of discovery, application, admit, and enrollment process 
  • Supply accurate information regarding the various programs IWU offers to prospective students and influencers (e.g., employers, supervisors, etc.) 
  • Manage efforts and success to balance student recruitment activities (Calls, Texts, Talk Time, Emails, etc.) and student servicing activities (Applications, Clearing, Registration, and Class Close, Class Starts, etc.) 
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned that may lead to the development and success of the department and National & Global enrollment 
  • Initiate contact to a prospective student within a timely manner as detailed by departmental leadership 
  • Coach students through a healthy process of discovery and exploration of their education options, which include building rapport, uncovering concerns, exploring students' learning styles, and optimal fit enrollment options
  • Accurately maintain student records in the contact management system to insure proper reporting, forecasting, and projecting of enrollment efforts and fruitfulness 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Associate degree required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in college recruitment, sales, marketing and/or public relations

Required Skills

  • Superior communication skills (spoken, written, group, individual)
  • Advanced computer skills with working experience in word processing, spreadsheets, database usage, e-mail, Internet, etc
  • Salesforce experience a plus
  • Ability to relate well to working professionals
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team to collectively develop ideas and strategies to increase the success of the department, National and Global, and Indiana Wesleyan University as a whole
  • Excellent organizational ability
  • Superior interpersonal skills
