Job Title: Director of IT Network Services & Enterprise Systems

Reporting Relationship: Deputy Chief Information Officer

Summary of Position:    The Director of IT Network Services & Enterprise Systems is responsible for leading and managing key infrastructure areas within the Information Technology Department: IT Network Services and IT Enterprise Systems. The Director will provide direction for the Assistant Director of Network Services and will provide direct oversight of the Systems Administration team, which performs the technical planning, implementation, maintenance, functional stability and security for infrastructure systems and applications, and builds, develops and maintains systems in the hardware, virtual and cloud environments. In addition, the role also oversees system-level applications such as identity and access management, e-mail, data protection, and disaster recovery, among others. This position will be expected to continually develop and adapt teams to meet new and future needs by way of training and professional development planning.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Assistant Director of IT Network Services and team
  • Provide oversight for daily operations of the IT Enterprise Systems team
  • Set vision and direction for IT Network Services and IT Enterprise Systems teams in coordination with the Deputy Chief Information Officer
  • Ensure the effective management and oversight of all networking and infrastructure devices, including phones, switches, routers, access points, servers (virtual and physical), and ISP connectivity, as well as the interconnectivity between enterprise and infrastructure components
  • Ensure procurement, installation, management, upgrade and monitoring of all network infrastructure, data center hardware, software, systems, and applications in alignment with IT processes and institutional priorities
  • Manage and report on budgets for all reporting teams
  • Coordinate the relationships between Indiana Wesleyan University IT and vendors of applicable information technology systems
  • Ensure creation, management, audit and archival of user accounts and permissions for key institutional applications
  • Ensure systems and services associated with network infrastructure and enterprise systems are redundant and include high availability for core services
  • Ensure regional sites and remote service locations for Indiana Wesleyan are adequately equipped for current and future infrastructure and system requirements
  • Monitor IT infrastructure hardware, systems, and applicable software for needed upgrades and patches
  • Provide oversight of installation, patching, and administration of enterprise systems
  • Plan, communicate, and implement changes when required, in alignment with IT processes and procedures and IT best practices
  • Provide oversight for creation, management, updating, and sharing of appropriate documentation on configuration of systems, applications, processes, and procedures related to IT infrastructure
  • Partner with the IT Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information and data for IWU systems and applications
  • Partner with other IT teams to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans, processes and standards are maintained, implemented, reviewed, tested, and revised in alignment with IT best practices
  • Partner with university stakeholders and other IT teams to ensure team effectiveness
  • Coach, mentor, and provide an environment of continual learning and growth for direct reports, including a professional development schedule and plan
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor's degree

Experience

  • 10+ years in IT Support, Network Infrastructure or Enterprise Systems
  • 5+ years in Service/Systems management or administration
  • 5+ years in managing direct reports
  • Prior experience managing technical projects and budgets
  • Experience in knowledge management strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams with different/opposing viewpoints
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
