Summary of Position: Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Psychology on our residential campus in Marion, Indiana. The ideal candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Area of specialization is open; however, candidates with expertise in Cognitive and/or Developmental Psychology are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning. Start date fall 2026, pending funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching undergraduate courses in one’s area of expertise, while also meeting departmental teaching needs
Mentoring students in their academic, professional, and spiritual development
Developing and sustaining a research agenda that involves undergraduates and contributes to the discipline
Collaborating with colleagues in curriculum development and program initiatives
Serving the university through committee work, engagement in the broader community, and participation/leadership in state and national professional organizations
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
A doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field is required
Experience
At least one (1) year of higher education teaching experience preferred
Required Skills
Demonstrates mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and a willingness to embrace the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to foster effective relationships among colleagues, students, and external partners
Excellent organizational and coordination abilities
Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and techniques
Skill in assessing the impact of teaching on student learning and in refining instructional design accordingly
Ability to provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback to students in both oral and written forms
Proficiency with computers and educational technology, including MS Office, Internet resources, and Learning Management Systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Clear and effective verbal expression
Capacity to advise, instruct, motivate, and mentor students toward academic and professional excellence, and to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and the public in a professional and Christ-centered manner
