Summary of Position: The Content Manager develops compelling messaging that aligns with IWU’s institutional voice and goals. This role seeks opportunities to highlight IWU Online (N&G) initiatives in various publications across IWU’s target markets. As a member of the IWU N&G marketing team, the Content Manager supports the Strategic Marketing Manager, contributing to strategy, content creation, and dissemination of key messages.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
Develop and implement content strategy to communicate N&G initiatives effectively across IWU’s target markets
Produce, edit, and optimize content including print, digital, email, and web, that aligns with IWU’s brand voice and enrollment goals
Collaborate closely with the Strategic Marketing Manager, marketing team members, and regional stakeholders to gather messaging needs and placement opportunities
Create and manage a content calendar to ensure timely and organized delivery of messaging across platforms
Identify and secure external publication opportunities in media outlets to amplify IWU messaging
Monitor and report on content performance using analytics tools (e.g., website metrics, open rates, placement reach) to inform optimization and strategy
Ensure all content reflects IWU’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, and messaging standards
Secondary
Support the Strategic Marketing Manager by developing messaging assets including briefs, talking points, or summaries for Chancellor’s Collective updates and team communication
Assist in proofreading or refining materials produced by the internal team or external partners to maintain consistency and quality
Contribute to content distribution strategies, including email newsletters, social media posts, and internal communications
Stay current with regional communication trends, publication cycles, and best practices to continually identify new placement opportunities
Assist with ad hoc messaging needs or content requests within IWU Online and N&G initiatives
Supervisory Responsibility This role does not carry formal supervisory duties but may collaborate with contractors, freelancers, or internal contributors as needed
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field preferred
Experience
Experience: Two to four (2-4) years in content creation, content management, or communications, marketing/PR agency and/or higher education experience is a plus
Required Skills
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with attention to brand voice and messaging consistency
Experience with content management systems (CMS), editorial calendars, and analytics tools
Basic SEO knowledge and ability to optimize content for placement and visibility
Strong project organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and messaging pipelines
Familiarity with media relations and publication processes preferred
Creative, proactive, and detail-oriented mindset
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Ability to adapt messaging for diverse channels and audiences
