Summary of Position:    Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion campus) seeks a creative and engaging ESL teacher who is dedicated to the ideals of liberal learning, an educational philosophy based on the centrality of Jesus Christ and the integration of faith and learning, and the promotion of a global and intercultural perspective.

The ESL program is a collaboration between the Division of Modern Language and Literature, which provides critical leadership in reading, writing, and literature for the College of Arts and Sciences on the Marion campus, and the Global Engagement Office, which seeks to enhance international and intercultural education on the residential campus of IWU.

Adjunct openings may be available as soon as Fall 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching academic ESL courses in person at the IWU campus in Marion, Indiana to international students enrolled at IWU for language study
  • Developing curriculum, working under the supervision of the ESL academic director
  • Collaborating with colleagues to encourage student success
  • Assisting with language testing
  • Participating in co-curricular programming as needed 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • A master’s degree in TESOL or related field is preferred but applicants with a bachelor’s degree in TESOL may also apply.


  • Experience teaching academic English to international students of varying proficiency levels is required; specialism in academic reading, writing, grammar, or speaking is preferred.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in more than one language is preferred.
