Campus Location: Fort Wayne Education Center, Fort Wayne, IN
Summary of Position: The Integrative Hub is seeking credentialed Health Coaches to join our care team as independent contractors. Working in coordination with our licensed clinical providers, coaches help clients understand and implement their personalized health plans. The Health Coach serves as the behavioral bridge between clinical recommendation and lived practice, using evidence-based, client-centered processes that cultivate lasting lifestyle change. This role is rooted in IWU's commitment to holistic education, community care, and Christ-centered service. Coaches are skilled facilitators of human transformation, empowering individuals to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives through accountability, self-discovery, and personalized behavioral strategy. Within our practitioner-led, coordinated care model, coaches do not direct the client's journey. Instead, they act as accountability partners who draw out each client's own insight, strengths, and intrinsic motivation to support self-determined health goals. Coaches operate within a clearly defined professional scope. Assessment of clinical data, diagnosis, prescriptive authority, and medical interpretation remain exclusively with our licensed providers. The coach's expertise lies in the behavioral dimension of health: goal clarification, motivational support, mobilizing personal strengths, and building self-management strategies. Coaches holding additional nationally or state-recognized credentials may draw on that expertise within its appropriate scope, provided dual roles are clearly disclosed, documented, and maintained with full ethical transparency from the start of the client relationship. Health Coaches are engaged as 1099 independent contractors, maintain their own professional liability insurance, and manage their own schedules in coordination with clinic availability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review practitioner-generated care documentation and engage clients in implementing their health plans through structured, goal-oriented coaching sessions
Apply evidence-based behavior change methodologies, including motivational interviewing, to support client self-efficacy and sustainable habit formation
Develop and adjust individualized coaching plans addressing lifestyle pillars including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and social well-being
Maintain accurate session documentation and contribute to coordinated care through appropriate communication with clinical providers
Operate within a clearly defined professional scope, referring all clinical questions to licensed providers without exception
Uphold the highest standards of client confidentiality, ethical practice, and professional conduct within a Christian academic environment
Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in integrative health and lifestyle medicine best practices
Facilitate group wellness sessions and community education programming as the Hub’s services expand
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Active, nationally recognized health coaching certification required (NBC-HWC, ACE, or equivalent)
Additional credentials in diabetes management, lifestyle medicine, or nutrition coaching preferred
Experience
Experience working with diverse populations and supporting clients through behavioral and chronic condition management
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to make complex health concepts accessible
Required Skills
Demonstrated ability to function effectively within a coordinated, practitioner-led care model
Alignment with the mission and values of Indiana Wesleyan University
IWU Kingdom Diversity Statement
