Job Title: Staff Accompanist (Part-time)

Reporting Relationship: Coordinator of Staff Accompanists

Summary of Position:    The Indiana Wesleyan University Division of Music + Theatre seeks a staff accompanist to support the division through collaboration with private studio instruction, ensembles, academic courses, and theatrical productions. The ability to sight-read and/or learn music quickly in a variety of styles is essential, along with strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit. (For part-time staff accompanists, the load will not exceed 25 hours per week including the rehearsal time.)


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accompanying weekly lessons and rehearsal for upper-level music students 
  • Accompanying senior recitals, Young Performer Series recitals, Upper Divisional examinations, juries, Departmental recitals and freshman auditions
  • Accompanying rehearsals for any musical or opera production 
  • Playing for choral or any other ensemble groups when necessary 
  • Working in cooperation with the accompanist coordinator of the school

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • The candidate must hold a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in piano performance (Master’s preferred), have excellent sight-reading ability, and experience in collaborative piano

Experience

  • Experience accompanying at the undergraduate level is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
