Job Title: JWHC Admissions & Event Planning Coordinator

Reporting Relationship: Dean of the JWHC

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Honors College-IWUM

Campus Location: Goodman Hall

Summary of Position:    The Admissions & Event Planning Coordinator reports to the Dean of the JWHC and is responsible for coordinating the Honors College admissions and recruiting processes; supervising the admissions student workers; maintaining accurate records; and managing logistics for events and programs sponsored by the JWHC.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of marketing tools that promote the JWHC to potential students and their parents, such as brochures, displays, emails, and web pages
  • Provide personal interaction with prospective students and their parents through academic fairs, campus visits, phone calls, and email. Oversee student workers’ efforts to create meaningful connections with prospective students
  • Coordinate communication with current IWU students and transfers about the Mary C. Dodd Honors Program
  • Work with Admissions and the JWHC Dean to plan and implement Honors Preview events
  • Manage the receipt of application materials and maintain records of applications
  • Organize JWHC Spotlight days
  • Support the Honors College Committee in the interview process and applicant review
  • Communicate regularly with applicants regarding interviews and the status of their applications
  • Supervise admissions student workers in completing tasks related to JWHC recruitment and admissions processes
  • Serve as the JWHC liaison with Admissions
  • Work on special projects related to admissions as requested
  • Assist with Admitted Student Day
  • Coordinate events sponsored by the JWHC, such as the President’s Author Series, Athens & Jerusalem Seminar, Luther Lee Lecture Series
    • Work closely with Conference Services and Pioneer to arrange for space, technology needs, and meals
    • Produce advertising for events
    • Handle event expenses, including speaker remuneration

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Master's Degree

Experience

  • Experience with project management and completion
  • Experience with event planning and organization

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, management, organizational, analytical, verbal, writing, and editing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Slate
  • A familiarity with collegiate honors education is required
