Reporting Relationship: Associate Director of New Student Onboarding

Summary of Position: The New Student Onboarding Specialists assists all new N & G students with being prepared for a confident and supported start by introducing them to our learning management system, student portal and IWU email. The New Student Onboarding Specialists will also introduce students to a community of support and care that includes peers, IWU staff, and IWU faculty. New Student Onboarding Specialists are familiar with the challenges and obstacles associated with new students as they begin their courses at IWU and use that knowledge to help students successfully navigate the early days of their educational journey. The New Student Onboarding Specialists will keep watch on early non-engagement alerts and provide proactive communication and ongoing support to the students assigned to his/her community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Introduce students to the IWU academic community, including their peers, staff, and faculty
Assists with creating all onboarding videos as needed
Assist with all live webinar offerings for new students
Assist with updating the New Student Orientation page as needed
Assist with the process of student encouragement gift process
Assist with community belonging for all students as needed
Maintain engagement process for outreach for non-engaged students within the first IWU course
As needed, establish, and fulfill appointments using phone, videoconference, or other resources available to ensure new students are well prepared to begin their educational journey at IWU
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
Proactively engage with students through open and interactive communication to build trust and sustainable relationships
Willingly demonstrate and initiate conversations about National & Global’s core values of praying, loving, learning, and sharing, with focus on how these values give direction to academic support, policy development, and student success
Understand and practice each component of the IWU National & Global onboarding process with excellence
Maintain a positive, empathic, and professional attitude toward students at all times
Actively listen and engage to discuss appropriate, easy-to-understand solutions and alternatives that best solve the student’s difficulties/life challenges in relation to educational pursuits
Inform students of community opportunities that will provide benefits to their educational journey
COLLABORATION AND CENTRALIZED SUPPORT
Serve as a liaison between student and operational entities working actively to promote and introduce students to a community of support
Effectively and accurately communicate university procedures, policies, and student services, seeking assistance/information from appropriate National & Global entities
Serve above and beyond to pursue all identified issues (both for the student and within National & Global) to a positive resolution. Communicate the resolution to the student and all involved parties
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education
A minimum of an associate degree from an accredited institution
Experience
Experience as an online student, preferably with IWU National & Global
Experience collaborating with adult learners
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Demonstrated openness and willingness to learn the best onboarding and engagement practices
Required Skills
Personal drive to help students get well acclimated to IWU during the onboarding process
Possesses attributes of servant leadership enacted with fervor
A proficiency in carrying a natural conversation
Excellent oral presentation, written communication, and conversational skills
Computer skills including Microsoft Office, database software, student information systems, document imaging systems, learning management systems, customer relations management systems
Commitment to identify solutions that uphold policy and procedure while meeting student needs
Respond appropriately to unexpected information and de-escalate conflict with calm, rational responses that represent Christlike principles and IWU National & Global core values
Prioritize and track competing demands
Effective decision-making skills based on student needs, National & Global core values, policy, and procedure
