Summary of Position: The Wellness Center is seeking an energetic Gymnastics Coordinator who holds comprehensive knowledge of the rules and regulations within gymnastics and demonstrated proficiency to manage a dynamic and evolving program. The coordinator would be responsible for designing lesson plans tailored to individuals developmental gymnastics levels, scheduling of private and group lessons/activities, formulate/track program data, and create an overall culture of safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent must collaborate well with others, maintain a positive outlook and complete assigned tasks
Design lesson plans and organize both individual and group activities tailored to participants' developmental level
Monitor and instruct clients to ensure proper use of equipment and minimize injury risks
Conducting orientation and educational sessions with clients while supporting individualized skill assessment to set realistic goals
Regular communication with parents and gymnastic students
Expected to join professional organizations and require participants in gymnastics programs to obtain personal memberships - this not only broadens field knowledge but also helps reduce liability insurance costs
Responsible for keeping activity and waiting areas clean, handling soiled linens appropriately, and performing any other assigned duties
Oversee participants and support staff while managing a dynamic and evolving program, is essential
Scheduling of all private lessons and group activities
Formulate and develop grassroots data for inclusion into business plans for review by higher level managers
Obtains approval for and oversees participants in competition for respective groups
Assists in the creation of a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safety in accordance with departmental safety procedures
Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to the supervisor
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Successful completion of an accredited gymnastics training program
Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations as well as demonstrated proficiency in gymnastics
Experience
At least one (1) year of relevant informal training and practical experience may be accepted in lieu of formal training
Required Skills
The physical aspects of this position involve the ability to spot, dynamic balancing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing and stooping, along with rapid and simultaneous mental and muscular coordination
Use of fingers and both hands for gripping, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 50 pounds on some occasions
