Job Title: Assistant Director of Student Account Services

Reporting Relationship: Controller

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Student Accounts

Campus Location: Maxwell Center, Marion IN

Summary of Position:    The Assistant Director of Student Account Services will manage and support the student account staff and all operational activities in IWU-Marion and IWU-Seminary and will oversee the life cycle of the student payment to collection process. The position will manage the University loan program, which includes overseeing the IWU loan program, Ministerial Loan program, Federal Perkins Loan, and the Nurse Faculty loan program.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as supervisor for the Student Accounts team in IWU-Marion and IWU-Seminary
  • Manage and oversee all business functions for the office including but not limited to cashiering, past due accounts, processing student payments, reconciliation, and processing student refunds 
  • Foster an informative, efficient, friendly, accurate, and customer-centered business office for all students. Answer student account questions timely from both students and university departments 
  • Serve as the primary contact with borrowers, loan servicing agency, and collection agencies on behalf of IWU 
  • Manage the loan program for IWU, which includes reviewing loans for repayment, maintaining records such as promissory notes and student correspondence 
  • Continuously evaluate office procedures and initiate actions to improve customer service and information flow while insuring that internal controls are met in this area 
  • Oversee all communication to students regarding their student accounts including but not limited to billing, payment plans, tuition rates, etc. 
  • Manage the student financial appeals process
  •  Support the Controller’s Office in financial management of IWU in areas such as general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or other financial areas
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • This position will be required to work an occasional Saturday for University events such as new student move in and/or graduations

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required (business field preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of collections, business relations, or related experience
  • One to two (1-2) years of management experience

  • Ability to set the priorities of the position.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of accuracy and attention to detail.
