Job Title: IT Project Manager & Business Analyst

Reporting Relationship: Director of Project Management

Unit: Central Administration

Department: IT Client Engagement Services

Campus Location: Online/Remote (This position is hybrid or remote eligible.)

Summary of Position:    The IT Project Manager & Business Analyst is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering technology projects leveraging project management best practices while ensuring business requirements are properly elicited and documented. This role manages project scope, schedule, budget, and resources while facilitating stakeholder engagement and project success through organizational change management. The position requires balancing traditional project management approaches with Agile practices as appropriate for each project's needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management
    • Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects
    • Develop comprehensive project plans including WBS, schedules, resource allocation, and risk management
    • Lead project teams of varying sizes through the full project lifecycle
    • Manage project constraints (scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, risk) effectively
    • Facilitate project governance through appropriate documentation and approval processes
    • Implement and maintain project tracking
    • Conduct regular status meetings and provide timely reporting to stakeholders
    • Manage multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity
    • Apply appropriate methodology (traditional waterfall or Agile) based on project needs

  • Business Analysis
    • Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements
    • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with diverse stakeholder groups
    • Create business process models, use cases, and user stories as appropriate
    • Perform gap analysis between current and future states
    • Validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements
    • Support solution selection processes and vendor evaluations
    • Document functional specifications for software integrations and data flows
    • Serve as liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams

  • Organizational Change Management
    • Apply change management methodologies to support project adoption and success
    • Develop and execute communication plans for all project stakeholders
    • Assess organizational readiness and develop appropriate strategies
    • Identify and engage change champions across the university
    • Create training plans and support materials for end users
    • Monitor adoption metrics and address resistance to change 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, communications, IT, or related field
  • PMP certification required (or obtained within 6 months of employment)
  • Other certifications related to: Business Analytics, Agile, Scrum, Change Management, or other project management frameworks a plus

Experience

  • Three or more (3+) years’ experience in IT project management and business analysis
  • Higher education experience preferred
  • Proven experience with industry standard project management processes and methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience with requirements elicitation, documentation, and traceability
  • Experience facilitating organizational change using structured methodologies
  • Proven ability to onboard and facilitate the execution of complex business projects
  • Customer-facing experience in scoping and analyzing business requirements
    and objectives
  • Proven customer engagement experience

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the PMI PMBOK, IIBA BABOK, Agile methodologies, and change management approaches
  • Broad knowledge of business practices, IT systems, and their application in Higher Education
  • Microsoft Office: Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Teams®
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong documentation and presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to be forward-thinking and innovative while understanding client needs and the capabilities of IWU business processes and technologies
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to foster this in others
  • Be an independent, self-initiated worker, as well as a team player
  • Capable of balancing attention to detail with overall project scope to drive results
  • Proactively engage present and future stakeholders in design, priority setting and implementation
  • Demonstrate organizational savvy; understand the organizational functions and general processes
  • Possess meeting management and facilitation skills
  • Employ effective organization and time management techniques
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict in a collaborative manner
