Summary of Position: The Director of Technology Programs and Ethical AI Initiatives provide visionary and operational leadership across two key domains: (1) the launch and development of the IWU Center for Ethical AI, and (2) the academic and operational coordination of technology programs within the DeVoe School. This non-traditional, cross-functional role integrates program management, adjunct coordination, and strategic innovation with a public-facing ethical mission rooted in a Christ-centered approach to emerging technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the strategic development and public mission of the Center for Ethical AI, articulating a distinctively Christian voice in AI ethics
Foster interdisciplinary research and cultivate partnerships with scholars, practitioners, churches, think tanks, and industry
Oversee public programming: roundtables, conferences, publications, and media outreach. Manage storytelling, fellowships, and digital content that amplify Christian engagement with technology
Develop funding strategies, grant proposals, and philanthropic partnerships
Provide day-to-day academic coordination for selected technology programs
Collaborate with the Technology Chair to align curriculum, faculty assignments, and instructional strategy with division priorities
Assist in launching new academic programs and ensuring their operational viability
Coordinate course schedules, resource planning, and delivery models (online, hybrid, and experiential)
Maintain quality assurance and accreditation standards across assigned programs
Serve as the liaison between the Center, program faculty, and the Technology Chair to ensure unified strategy execution
Develop operational plans that reflect divisional goals, Christ-centered values, and institutional efficiency
Analyze data to inform improvements in student success, program delivery, and retention outcomes
Prepare reports and updates for the Division Chair and Dean on program metrics and Center impact
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Master’s degree in technology, theology/ethics, or related discipline (Doctorate preferred or an intent to pursue a terminal degree)
Experience
Three to five (3–5) years of experience in higher education or complex organization (government, large corporations etc.) with demonstrated leadership with teams to negotiate positive outcomes that leads an organization towards transformation
Experience with a research-oriented entity with an intent in delivering intellectual deliverables to the public or experts in the field
Experience supervising projects while developing relational equity for change
Experience in grant writing a plus
