Job Title: Director of School Operations

Reporting Relationship: Dean Devoe School of Business, Technology and Leadership

Campus Location: Indianapolis Ed Center North, Indianapolis, IN

Summary of Position:    As Director of DeVoe School Operations, you will lead and oversee all operational functions for the Business and Technology Divisions, including executive calendar management, campus-wide event partnerships, and daily administrative services. You’ll serve as a strategic partner to the Dean’s Office—ensuring that divisional workflows, events, and support services run seamlessly and align with the School’s mission and goals.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executive Calendar & Workflow Management
    • Strategically manage and optimize the calendars of the Division Chairs and Dean’s Office leadership
    • Anticipate scheduling conflicts and proactively coordinate resources, rooms, and stakeholder communications
    • Develop standardized processes for meeting preparation, follow-up, and documentation 
  • Event Strategy & Operations
    • Co-lead planning and execution of high-impact School events (residencies, speaker series, graduations, conferences) in partnership with the IWU National & Global Events Director
    • Own vendor relationships, contract negotiations, budget oversight, and on-site logistics
    • Create event performance metrics, conduct post-event analyses, and recommend continuous-improvement initiatives 
  • Divisional Administrative Leadership
    • Oversee day-to-day administrative infrastructure for the Business and Technology Divisions, including staffing, student services, and facilities coordination
    • Manage a small team of administrative assistants and student coordinators—providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development
    • Monitor and report on division budgets, process high-volume purchase orders, and ensure timely expense reconciliations 
  • Dean’s Office Partnership & Special Projects
    • Facilitate complex travel logistics, expense reporting, and high-level communications for the Dean and Assistant Dean
    • Draft executive-level presentations, reports, and correspondence
    • Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives (accreditation support, new-program launches, process automation) as delegated by the Dean’s Office

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • An Associate's degree is required

Experience

  • Five to seven (5–7) years of progressively responsible leadership in higher education administration, event management, or a comparable professional services setting
  • Proven track record of supervising staff and driving process improvements

Required Skills

  • Technical & Business Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and calendar-management platforms
    • Budget management experience, including forecasting and variance analysis
    • Familiarity with IWU’s National & Global systems preferred (e.g., EMS event scheduling, Banner finance modules)
  • Core Competencies:
    • Exceptional strategic-planning and organizational acumen
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication, with the ability to influence at all levels
    • High emotional intelligence, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality
    • Proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic academic environment
