Summary of Position: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Health Coaches to join our team as vendor coaches. These coaches will work closely with Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) clients to provide personalized health and wellness guidance, supporting them in achieving their health goals. Ideal candidates must have a strong background in health services and a passion for promoting holistic well-being. Health Coaches will play a pivotal role in delivering this vision by offering services that align with IWU's commitment to holistic education and community care. This role is more than just guiding clients; it’s about empowering individuals to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives through personalized, integrative health strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver Integrative Health Services:
Provide personalized coaching that incorporates various holistic practices, including nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, stress management, and spiritual wellness, to support clients in achieving their health goals
Facilitate Group and One-on-One Coaching:
Conduct both individual and group sessions to assist clients in making sustainable lifestyle changes and promote a sense of community and peer support
Client-Centered Communication:
Utilize motivational interviewing and culturally competent communication to build trust, empower self-discovery, and respect the diverse backgrounds of clients
Develop and Adjust Health Plans:
Create personalized health plans addressing client needs in physical, mental, and spiritual domains. Monitor progress for optimal outcomes, including nutrition, physical activities, stress management, and chronic disease management
Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams:
Work closely with healthcare providers, health coaches, and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive care and ensure clients receive well-rounded support
Conduct Workshops and Seminars:
Lead educational sessions on personal development and wellness topics that align with IWU's commitment to holistic education and spiritual growth. Examples would include cooking
Maintain Professional and Ethical Standards:
Adhere to the highest ethical standards in coaching practice, particularly within a Christian academic environment, and ensure client confidentiality
Engage in Ongoing Professional Development:
Stay up to date with the latest research and best practices in integrative health and participate in continuous learning to enhance coaching skills
Leverage Digital Health Tools:
Utilize technology, including digital health platforms and telehealth services, to provide continuous support and monitoring for clients
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
A bachelor's degree in healthcare is preferred. This could include degrees such as Nurse Practitioner, Dietitian, Physical Therapist, or Pharmacist
While a Registered Nurse (RN) background is preferred, it is not mandatory
Candidates with these healthcare degrees will be well-equipped to provide the level of expertise required for this role
Experience
Previous experience in health coaching, wellness counseling, or a related field is preferred
Experience working with diverse populations and managing chronic conditions is a plus
Required Skills
We are hiring certified health and wellness coaches who hold one or more of the following credentials or areas of specialization:
Health Coaching Certification – (e.g., NBC-HWC, ACE, or other nationally recognized programs)
Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) – Advanced expertise in clinical nutrition and personalized health interventions
Oncology Coaching Certification or Experience – The ability to support clients managing cancer-related health challenges with targeted strategies
Diabetes Management Certification or Experience – Proficiency in guiding clients through behavioral and lifestyle modifications related to diabetes prevention and care
Key Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and inspire clients, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to ongoing professional development
