Job Title: Chaplain to Military-affiliated Students (Remote - Part time)

Unit: National & Global

Campus Location: Online/Remote

Summary of Position:  The Chaplain to Military-affiliated students is an up to 36 hour per month position in which the chaplain serves as spiritual support to IWU’s online military-affiliated students (MAS). This is accomplished in two ways: proactively calling on MAS and responding to incoming spiritual support requests.


Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in ministry (e.g. Christian Religion, Christian Ministries, Ministerial Education).
• Ordination or Ministerial License in an approved evangelical denomination with Wesleyan-Arminian theological tradition/basis.
• Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Experience

• At least two (2) years of hands-on ministerial experience with adults.
• At least four (4) years of U.S. Armed Forces military service.

Required Skills

• Strong computer skills.
• Strong attention to details.
• Strong verbal communication skills, particularly over telephone.
• Familiarity with online higher education.
• Strong understanding of military life—both active duty and veteran.
• Ability to provide biblically based counsel AND military-specific counsel to military-affiliated students (veterans, active duty, spouses, dependents).
