Summary of Position:    The DeVoe School of Business, Technology, and Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Assistant Dean. The Assistant Dean serves as a key academic and administrative leader within DeVoe, supporting the Dean in advancing the institution's mission, vision, and strategic priorities. This role encompasses ensuring the school’s commitment to quality and innovation by maintaining external partnerships for the Leadership by Design initiative, overseeing faculty (full-time/ adjunct) quality control in concert with the existing Division Chairs, and leading student retention efforts. This role will also involve working closely with the Division Chairs, and the Director of Curriculum as a key thought leader in reimagining business education for adult professional students.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leadership by Design Facilitation 
  • Thought leadership and management in Adjunct Quality Assurance efforts 
  • Ownership of DBTL retention strategy, management and oversight 
  • Thought leadership around development of experiential learning

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Terminal Degree in a Business, Leadership or Technology Field

Experience

  • Ten (10+) years or more in Higher Education as a faculty member as well as someone who has demonstrated significant student retention success
  • Vast experience with a proven track record in

Required Skills

  • Leadership by Design Oversight
    • Lead and maintain the external work of the Leadership by Design initiative
    • Foster partnerships with industry leaders, organizations, and community stakeholders to advance the goals of Leadership by Design
  • Adjunct Faculty Quality Control
    • Develop and implement processes for evaluating and ensuring quality in adjunct faculty performance
    • Provide leadership to ensure training and support to adjuncts align with best practices for adult professional education
  • Student Retention and Success
    • Lead the development and implementation of retention strategies to increase student persistence in online and hybrid programs
    • Utilize best practices in adult learning to enhance the student experience, with a particular focus on first-generation students and those from underserved communities
    • Monitor student data and analytics to identify areas for retention improvement and implement actionable solutions
  • Thought Leadership and Collaboration
    • Serve as a key thought leader in collaboration with the Dean and alongside Division Chairs and the Director of Curriculum to advance the vision of the DeVoe School
    • Contribute to strategic planning and innovative program development for adult and professional learners
