Job Title: Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Recreation

Reporting Relationship: Director of Athletics

Department: Intercollegiate Athletics-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center, Marion, IN

Summary of Position:    The Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Recreation is responsible for overseeing IWU Athletic facilities and equipment, located within these facilities, serving as a liaison to the IWU Facilities department. The Associate AD will direct all student and community recreational activities, including, but not limited to, open recreation, intramurals, athletic department-sponsored club sports, and aquatics programming, as well as supervise and disciple approximately 70 student workers. Additionally, they will provide leadership to the IWU Athletic Department through sport supervision and coverage of 4-5 sports and by serving on IWU Athletics Executive Operations Council.


Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Associate Athletic Director will support the IWU Athletics mission of developing students’ Spiritual Growth, Academic Achievement, Leadership Development, and Athletic Excellence
    • The Associate Athletic Director must embody and promote the Wildcat Way biblical values of Kindness, Humility, Belonging, Integrity, and Courage in their life, work, and interaction with others
  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Community memberships for RWC
    • Equipment and facility maintenance across all athletic facilities
    • Liaison with facilities
    • Game management/administration
    • Sport Supervision/Coverage of four to five sports
    • Participate in long-range planning and assessment, attend all department training sessions and meetings, read and comply with all departmental policy manuals
    • Manage and operate within budget parameters, without exception. Submit all receipts and budget reports on time
    • Ensure strict adherence to all Conference/League and NAIA by-laws and regulations
    • Ensure adherence with established institutional compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior
    • Ensure the spiritual, physical, emotional, and social welfare of students and student-athletes 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

Experience

  • Two or more (2+) years in facility/equipment supervision preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, administrators, support staff, and athletes
  • Possesses strong technical skills and a high comfort level within a computerized environment
  • Exhibits outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to make well informed decisions, solve problems and coordinate a variety of activities and tasks
  • Reveals exemplary organizational skills, attention to detail and the capacity to develop efficient and effective systems for the implementation of policies and processes
