Summary of Position: The Assistant Director of Grants & Sponsored Programs is responsible for providing support to the Director in seeking, securing, and supporting grants that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship.
Duties and Responsibilities
Seeking grant opportunities that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship:
Write and/or edit letters of interest, grant proposals, executive summaries, and cover letters on behalf of the institution
Support faculty, staff, and administrators by editing their grant proposals
Assist Director in facilitating internal review/approval process for grant proposals
Securing grant awards that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant proposals, awards, compliance activities, policies, and protocols in IWU systems
Coordinate with Business Affairs Office in drafting and distributing contracts for externally facing awards and sub awards
Receive and deliver funding award checks to Business Affairs Office
Assist Director with facilitating grant kick-off meetings with project managers and stakeholders
Supporting grant projects that align with institutional priorities and faculty scholarship:
Provide support to project managers for the duration of the grant cycle on matters associated with the grant agreement
Facilitate quarterly check-in meetings with project managers and stakeholders to ensure compliance with grant agreements and financial procedures
Maintain digital records of all current and past grant proposals, awards, and reports
Assist the Director in producing monthly and annual reports that include statistical data
Support project managers by editing final grant reports and ensuring alignment compliance with grant agreements
Assist Director with setting up and maintaining accounts with sponsor websites
Providing general administrative support for the Office of Grants & Sponsored Programs, including but not limited to: scheduling meetings, managing calendars, coordinating travel arrangements, ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment, ensuring a well-organized and efficient office environment, representing the Director and the office at meetings and events on and off campus as needed
Fulfill other duties as assigned

Education
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., writing, business administration, public administration)
Master’s degree preferred
Experience
Proven experience in office management, research administration, and/or IRB support
Recognizing and valuing the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals from diverse backgrounds within a diverse and inclusive workplace
Knowledge of research administration and IRB processes is desirable
Familiarity with federal, state, and private funding agency regulations and guidelines
Required Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Problem solving and resourcefulness with challenges that may arise in the workplace, taking initiative and seeking guidance when needed
