Job Title: Endowed Chair of Computer Science

Summary of Position: Indiana Wesleyan University seeks applications for the Clapp Endowed Chair of Computer Science on the Marion, Indiana campus. This position is a full-time faculty position, supported by an endowment. The Clapp chair is allowed a reduced teaching load to allow time for research and other scholarly activities, including summer activities. Additional funding is available for these scholarly endeavors, as well as professional travel and program development. Ideal candidates would provide evidence of experience that equates to the rank of Full Professor. However, other applicants may be considered based on education and significant professional accomplishments in the technology industry. The Chair will have broad opportunity to define this new position and apply its resources to strengthen the Computer Science Department and his or her own professional growth. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning. Starting Fall 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching a reduced load of undergraduate computer science courses
Collaborating with the engineering program
Involving undergraduate students in scholarship
Mentoring students
Building partnerships with regional industry
Developing curriculum
Serving the university on councils and committees
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Possession of an earned doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or another closely related field
Experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and students
Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage undergraduate research preferred
Required Skills

Demonstrates a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and embraces the theological and lifestyle commitments of the Wesleyan Church
Possesses the interpersonal qualities and skills to work effectively as a member of the Indiana Wesleyan University faculty

Willingness to learn new instructional strategies and techniques
Skills for evaluation of the impact of teaching on the teaching-learning process and implementation of modifications as appropriate
Skills in interpreting and acting upon recommendations identified in course and program evaluation
