Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst

Reporting Relationship: Chief Data Officer (CDO) and the Enterprise Architect

Unit: Central Administration

Department: Data Processing

Campus Location: Maxwell Center

Summary of Position:    The Business Intelligence analyst will help IWU grow its current reporting platform to assist operational and academic departments with insights and decision-support. The Business Intelligence Analyst will promote a data-informed culture by providing access to data and helping to analyze and visualize the data for actionable insights and strategies. The Business Intelligence Analyst will assist in designing, building and maintaining self-service reporting and will gather requirements and make recommendations on reporting and Business Intelligence solutions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops consistent structures, processes, and formats toward a standardized data management structure
  • Collaborates with key stake holders in defining data models and analytics to support organizational objectives, operational initiatives, and monitoring 
  • Develops complex reports utilizing analytical tools and expertise to meet organizational requirements
  • Helps establish data maps for each line of business to achieve the Enterprise Data Strategy 
  • Oversees the documentation of data properties and analysis work 
  • Identifies and prioritizes critical data and analytics uses cases and assesses their requirements 
  • Participates in data governance committees

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline preferred (e.g., Information Systems, Data Science)

Experience

  • Experience in gathering and analysis of system requirements
  • Experience with common data warehouse and data lake concepts and best practices
  • SQL programming experience

Required Skills

  • Ability to apply multiple solutions to business problems
  • Ability to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
  • Interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment.
