Job Title: Graduate Assistant for Men's Basketball

Reporting Relationship: Head Basketball Coach

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Basketball-Men-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center

Summary of Position:    A Graduate Assistant for Men's Basketball works under the Head Basketball Coach to support a college level basketball team. The candidate must provide instruction to student-athletes by showing techniques and working to improve performance during practice and games, provide feedback on individual workouts and group practice, assist in recruiting new team members and retaining current players. The graduate assistant will be responsible for recording video footage, assessing plays, overseeing team travel, preparing for games, identifying skills and weaknesses, and fulfilling other duties as needed.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to student-athletes by showing techniques and working to improve performance during practice and games 
  • Provide feedback on individual workouts and group practice
  • Assist in recruiting new team members and retaining current players 
  • Responsible for recording video footage and assessing plays
  • Oversee team travel 
  • Prepare for games
  • Identify skills and weaknesses of players 
  • Assist in leading discipleship initiatives
  • Other duties as needed 
  • This position will supervise student-athletes in a variety of capacities as well as manage our student assistant staff.

Education
