Department: AES Adult Enroll Services

Summary of Position:    The individual in this position has primary responsibility to connect with and qualify students from a variety of lead generating sources and avenues. By using telephony and other communication mediums, this position qualifies potential students for initial connection to a enrollment counselor, and/or nurtures leads, prospects, and applicants until they are ready to move on to an enrollment counselor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answering incoming calls and/or initiate outgoing from/to prospective students and other external and internal constituents. Initiate contact to a new prospective student within 24 hours of the 1st inquiry 
  • Qualifying inbound callers in order to connect them to the appropriate AES or other IWU person or department 
  • Monitoring chat client desktop to communicate with students who wish to connect via live chat functionality 
  • Monitoring AES email and voicemail accounts, following up with student inquiries on a daily basis
  • Follow qualifying procedures and process to insure effective service and accurate reports 
  • Maintain accurate and efficient notes and details about student disposition and timing to connect to an enrollment counselor 
  • Learning and dispensing adequate knowledge of AES enrollment procedures and guiding prospective students to AES Staff, primarily enrollment counselors 
  • Effective use of call center phone system, Electronic In/Out Board and other call center procedures 
  • Participate in staff training sessions, meetings and other activities as directed 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred


  • Prior experience in a sales, customer service or other high paced, customer-based environments preferred

Required Skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills including active listening, effective questioning and multi-task organization
  • Effective communication skills – including the ability to work calmly with dissatisfied customers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Effective computer skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and database usage
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task, connecting with students on the phone and via live chat, as well as email communications
