Job Title: Head Strength Coach

Reporting Relationship: Athletic Director

Unit: IWU-Marion

Department: Athletic Training-IWU Marion

Campus Location: Recreation & Wellness Center

Summary of Position:    The Head Strength Coach will design and implement strength programs for student-athletes, support holistic learning and partner with the Head Athletic Trainer and Training Staff.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Committed to the Lordship of Christ, continually seeking personal growth through the regular practice of spiritual disciplines, and creating spiritually rich environments for others to do the same 
  • Support the holistic learning and disciple-making mission of the university by cultivating a community of belonging, support, and engagement through formative and diverse experiences 
  • Embody and promote the Wildcat Way values of Kindness, Humility, Belonging, Integrity, and Courage in their life, work, and interaction with others 
  • Design and implement strength training programs for approximately 400 student-athletes utilizing three different IWU strength facilities 
  • Partner with Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Training Staff in implementation of prehab/rehab protocol as needed 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • CSCS or SCCC Certification required

Experience

  • At least one (1) year of experience in strength and conditioning or related field
  • CPR/AED certified or must obtain certification within three (3) months of appointment

Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, administrators, support staff, and athletes
  • Knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, techniques, and safety rules & regulations
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, communicate, and adhere to University, Crossroads League, and NAIA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to influence and build positive relationships among diverse individuals including: student-athletes, parents, coaches, athletic trainers, staff, and students
