Summary of Position:    The Director of Financial Aid provides administrative leadership for the Financial Aid Office on the Residential Campus. The Director ensures students have adequate and timely financial plans for enrollment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership by example to the Residential Financial Aid office staff for all daily operations.
  • Help explore and develop initiatives and procedures to improve financial aid delivery effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Annually develop the forms used for financial aid files, Cost of Attendance Budgets, and formulate policies as it pertains to financial aid.
  • Participate in evaluations, developing, and implementing policies and best practices for awarding institutional grants and scholarships.
  • Monitor financial aid awards and aid delivery for all students on main campus to maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Assist with tracking awards of endowed, athletic, and departmental funds.
  • Assist with the completion of various reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Lead office staff through decision-making, guidance, training, and team building.
  • Partner with Advancement in efforts to increase and strategically administer funded scholarship gifts.
  • Represent the Residential Financial Aid office in a variety of forums both on and off campus.
  • Maintain knowledge of financial aid regulatory, statutory, and system requirements through participating in various professional development opportunities such as (among others: Federal Student Aid conference, State Regional, and national Financial Aid conferences as needed).
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned.

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Master’s Degree preferred


• Minimum 5 years of experience in Financial Aid or Enrollment Management administration
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Skills

• Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, prioritize tasks, and creative problem solver
• Experience and prior knowledge of financial aid procedures
• Competency and experience in computer skills including the Microsoft Suite
• Ability to think strategically and perform in that same way
• Demonstrate understanding of the importance of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
