Job Title: Enrollment Counselor– International Student Programs

Summary of Position:    The Enrollment Counselor for International Student Programs (ISP) serves as a recruiter, driving student enrollment by proactively engaging with prospective international students and guiding them through the admissions process from inquiry to course start. This role is centered on achieving enrollment targets by building strong relationships, effectively presenting program offerings, providing F1 student visa guidance, and addressing concerns to facilitate a smooth transition into their academic journey. Success in this position requires a results-driven mindset, exceptional communication abilities, and a strong goal-oriented approach—motivated by the pursuit of exceeding targets and driven by a commitment to continuous improvement.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete initial assessments of international student applications
  • Respond and advise international applicants on admission requirements and federal student visa policies
  • Serve as a liaison between students and operational entities working actively to promote and introduce students to a community of support 
  • Ensure all data integrity of application files to ensure proper communication with student service departments 
  • Lead Federal international student database (SEVIS) data input and collection
  • Tracks international student records, onboarding progress using reports, dashboards, and assists Director in conducting data analysis and creating reports about international student admittance yields and enrollment reports
  • Provide leadership for volunteer and part-time staff during international student-required international student residencies (Friday/Saturday) multiple times per year
  • Proactively engage with prospective students from lead initiation through enrollment
  • Build trust and rapport with students by providing accurate and relevant information about ISP programs and admission process
  • Meet or exceed enrollment goals through effective pipeline management
  • Monitor and improve key performance metrics such as lead-to-start conversion rates
  • Manage assigned prospective students, ensuring timely follow-ups and progress tracking
  • Engage in ongoing, recurrent training, provided by the training department and their Associate Director of International Student Programs
  • Demonstrate a sincere commitment to the student’s educational goals and personal development
  • Successfully complete and maintain Designated School Officer (DSO) training, ensuring compliance with SEVP regulations and institutional policies
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Four (4) years experience working in higher education preferred
