Summary of Position: Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning, and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.
Duties and Responsibilities
Attend and lead all required class sessions
Promptly assess student coursework and submit via the university’s learning management system
Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner
Provide input into course curriculum, as appropriate
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Candidates will ideally hold a graduate degree in the field of athletic training, exercise science, physical education and/ or recreation/ sports management
Substantial professional experience within the content area to be taught may be considered in lieu of a masters’ degree
Experience
Candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching, scholarship, service, and dedication to the ideals of liberal learning
Articulation of an educational philosophy on the centrality of Jesus Christ with the intention to integrate their faith with learning is imperative
Required Skills
Candidates will possess skills in effective oral and written communication and pedagogy; creativity and critical-analytical thinking; curriculum design and development; instructional technology; organization and planning; time management; and interpersonal interaction.
