Summary of Position: Graduate Assistants will primarily perform administrative tasks to serve the DSB and the DBA program. Each will be assigned an area of responsibility such as International Students, Student Support/Ombudsperson, and Faculty Support. Under those areas of responsibilities, tasks will be assigned by a lead faculty or administrative staff. In some cases, GAs may be asked to assist professors with class administration and grading. All GAs are expected to support three doctoral residencies per year. This includes traveling to residency locations, assisting with set-up, logistics, and support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate with the DBA Full-Time Faculty on assigned tasks
Assist with coordinating adjunct faculty and research chair recruiting efforts
Assist with the end-of-course and faculty / research chair review processes
Assist communication with adjunct faculty and research chairs
Maintain and update records
Coordinate with research chairs to track student progress on their ADPs
Support onsite and virtual residencies
Other assignments as directed by the Department Chair
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
A Master’s Degree required. Preferably in a business, or business related field
An IWU active graduate DBA student in good standing
Experience
At least three (3) years of professional experience. Preferably five (5)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Demonstrated ability to handle appropriately confidential information
Required Skills
The ability to be self-directed to accomplish required tasks.
The ability to effectively communicate with culturally diverse populations of students and faculty
The aptitude to lead with the soft skill, empathy, which is a vital leadership competency
A sufficient familiarity with Microsoft Office and other products to accomplish tasks, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, etc.
The ability to balance multiple tasks
The ability to follow policies and be flexible when appropriate
The ability to travel to and work at residencies three times per year
A high degree of integrity to handle confidential student information
