Summary of Position: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Director of Events & Community Engagement for IWU National & Global's Regional Ventures & Operations, based in Indianapolis. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for hospitality and an eye for detail, who can plan and execute exceptional events for both internal and external groups. The primary focus will be on organizing events at our Indy North Education Center, with additional responsibilities in Fort Wayne and other education centers. The ideal candidate will excel at creating memorable experiences showcasing remarkable hospitality that support new academic programs as well as venture and enterprise development outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and execute high-quality events for internal and external groups, primarily at IWU’s Indy North Education Center
Collaborate with academic and program leadership partners to create event themes and concepts
Manage all event logistics, including catering, supplies, and creative decorations
Support promotion of events to relevant groups
Convene and lead planning of events across various National & Global departments. Effectively manage diverse groups with a high level of excellence and a strong executive presence
Plan and create run of show for key events Be on-site for events, leading the setup and execution of quality operations with the support of regional operations teams
Coordinate events in Fort Wayne and other education centers as needed
Provide event planning services to conferencing clients at Indy North as a fee-based resource
Ensure all events align with organizational goals and standards of excellence
Manage event budgets and timelines effectively
Conduct post-event evaluations and report on outcomes
Stay current with event planning trends and best practices
Perform additional duties as needed
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Bachelors and Masters degree preferred
Experience
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in event planning and coordination
Proven track record of successfully organizing diverse events, from small gatherings to large-scale conferences
Experience working in higher education or a related field is preferred
Familiarity with venue management and vendor relations
Background in hospitality or customer service is a plus
