Job Title: Professor of English/Writing

Summary of Position: The Division of Modern Language, Literature & Communication at Indiana Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time English/Writing Faculty position on the residential Marion, Indiana campus. We seek a creative and engaging teacher-scholar who is dedicated to the ideals of liberal learning and an educational philosophy based on the centrality of Jesus Christ and the integration of faith and learning in instruction. The ideal candidate should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning. Beginning fall 2025 pending funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching courses as assigned, including Academic Writing, Creative Writing and upper-level Writing courses
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Graduate degree in Creative Writing or related field required
Terminal degree preferred The ideal candidate will have an MFA or PhD with a specialization in Poetry, Fiction, and/or Creative Nonfiction and expertise in one or more of the following areas: Comparative Literature, Rhetoric/Composition, ESL, Spanish, and/or Communication
Experience
Teaching experience at the collegiate level is highly desirable
Required Skills
Excellence in knowledge and skills in relation to the appropriate field(s)
Competence in teaching ability, along with an eagerness to improve
