Summary of Position: Adjunct faculty are essential to providing a quality academic experience for Indiana Wesleyan University students. Adjuncts will employ a range of engaging teaching strategies designed to foster student learning and stimulate class discussion. Applicants must have appropriate academic or professional experience within the given academic discipline, demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and be able to integrate their Christian faith into the classroom content.
Duties and Responsibilities
Attend and lead all required class sessions
Promptly assess student coursework and submit via Brightspace (the university’s learning management system)
Coordinate with Division Chair and/or Academic Dean regarding classroom or student issues in a timely manner
Provide input into course curriculum as appropriate
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
Completion of a Physical Therapy Program resulting in licensure as a Physical Therapist. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Master's of Physical Therapy (MPT), or Bachelor’s of Physical Therapy.
Preferred Qualification: Doctor of Physical Therapy
Experience
Candidates must possess a strong foundation in physical therapy principles, practices, and clinical skills to effectively teach and mentor students in the program
Ideal candidates will have a combination of clinical experience and academic involvement, showcasing their ability to integrate practical knowledge with theoretical instruction
Required Skills
Clinical Expertise: Extensive clinical experience in physical therapy, with a strong understanding of contemporary practices and techniques. Ability to integrate clinical insights into the academic curriculum
Teaching Proficiency: Proven ability to teach and mentor students effectively, utilizing various instructional methodologies and technologies. Experience in developing and delivering engaging and informative lectures and practical sessions
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to students clearly and effectively
Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and clinical partners. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in physical therapy education and practice
