Job Title: Director of Theological Programs in Spanish

Reporting Relationship: Dean of the Faculty

Summary of Position:    The Director of Theological Programs in Spanish for Wesley Seminary will oversee the conceptualization and execution of a comprehensive strategic plan for the Seminary’s education of Latino/Latina leaders. He/she will assist in the development, contextualization, and assessment of Spanish-language curriculum and recruitment of faculty for Spanish-language instruction. He/she will build “educational bridges” and support services to help Latino/Latina students succeed. He/she will help promote Wesley Seminary to the broader Latino/Latina community in The Wesleyan Church and beyond.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to the conception and execution of Wesley Seminary’s strategic plan for the education of Latino/Latina students
  • Provide planning and oversight for the Seminary budget as it pertains to academic programs in Spanish Develop
  • Maintain internal and external processes and support services for student success 
  • Assist the Dean of the Faculty in the development, contextualization, and assessment of Spanish-language curriculum
  • Collaborate with the Enrollment office in the recruitment efforts of prospective students
  • Be actively engaged in networking, recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of teaching faculty for the programs 
  • Serve as liaison between Wesley Seminary and the Hispanic Leadership Council of The Wesleyan Church as well as other Wesleyan educational institutions
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with Regional and National Latino/Latina religious and academic organizations
  • Provide representation for Wesley Seminary at the Multiethnic Enrichment Council, and other relevant committees as requested by the Dean of the Faculty
  • Teach relevant graduate courses in his/her field of expertise
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Faculty or the Executive Vice-President of Wesley Seminary 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Ph.D, D.Min, or Ed.D in Theology, Bible, Leadership or ministry related field

Experience

  • At least two (2) years of administrative experience

Required Skills

  • Fully bi-lingual in Spanish and English
  • Ability to solve problems, design and execute projects
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, organizational and listening skills, demonstrate maturity and initiative, computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel, Word)
  • Self-motivation, integrity, and the ability to work under time pressures and deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think and operate strategically
  • Must believe in and live out the Christ-centered mission of the University
  • Must have rapport with people and for the IWU community to have confidence in the individual
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for relating effectively to faculty, staff, and students
