Job Title: Associate Director of Recruitment

Reporting Relationship: Associate VP Enrollment Management

Summary of Position:    This person leads a team of admissions professionals with the responsibility to meet or exceed established new student enrollment goals. The primary focus is to develop best practice strategies surrounding counselor recruitment activities (i.e. outreach, visit conversations, travel, etc.). The position serves as a member of the core leadership team and assists with the development and implementation of strategic activities focused on recruitment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the onboarding, training and evaluation of new student admissions counselors 
  • Lead and mentor individual admissions counselors by establishing clear expectations/goals and providing timely feedback and guidance
  • Monitor key performance metrics (outreach, visits, travel, etc.) and make strategy pivots to help reach individual and team goals 
  • Work alongside the Associate VP to establish territory and related funnel and visit goals 
  • Utilize the CRM and other available technology to drive recruitment efforts and monitor results 
  • Assist each admissions counselor in in the development of a comprehensive travel plan (fall, winter, spring and summer) that maximizes enrollment 
  • Align recruitment efforts with data provided by external vendors to enhance enrollment 
  • Hold a small recruitment territory and manage the associated student files 
  • Visit high schools and churches, and attend college fairs related to training new staff, filling in gaps and meeting the needs of the assigned recruitment territory 
  • Maximize the effectiveness of the student phoning team by collaborating with the call center manager

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of experience in Admissions
  • Experience leading a team of professional and/or student staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and be supervised
  • Experience and commitment to pursing enrollment goals
  • Successful use of CRM software
  • Strong communication skills across multiple mediums, including phone, text, email and in-person
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence, friendliness/warmth, and conversational skills
  • Capable of operating effectively and efficiently in MS Office systems
  • Ability to track details and use accurately
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible in a dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills
