Job Title: Art + Design Facility Assistant Manager

Reporting Relationship: Art + Design Facility Administrator

Campus Location: Beard Art Center

Summary of Position:    The Assistant Manager will conduct safety inspections and building walk-throughs, assist with record-keeping and data processing, provide support to students in our Mac Lab, and monitor and service equipment within the Division of Art + Design.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly, and monthly inspections of safety equipment as guided by regulations
  • Monitor supply levels on various pieces of equipment, safety materials, and inventories like inks, papers, etc.
  • Assist with light maintenance of equipment (printers, scanners, shop equipment) and log and report errors and issues
  • Process data and maintain databases used within the Division
  • Participate in large-scale annual projects and preparations for divisional events
  • Inspect facilities for damages, report issues, and submit work orders
  • Assist with studio setup and upkeep, as well as waste and material management
  • Meet regularly with the Facilities Administrator to report issues and discuss divisional initiatives

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • An MFA or MA degree (preferred); BS or BA degree in Arts required

Experience

  • Familiarity with studio art practices
  • Proficiency with word processing, productivity software, and Adobe software on the Mac platform

Required Skills

  • The successful candidate will be able to:
    • Manage time effectively and work autonomously
    • Prioritize competing tasks
    • Communicate ideas clearly both verbally and in writing
    • Produce accurate records and detailed notes
    • Use Microsoft Office suite, printing software and hardware, Apple UI, and other digital media programs
    • Apply creative problem solving to safety issues, student concerns, and building improvements
