Job Title: Military Enrollment Recruiter

Reporting Relationship: Executive Director of Online and Student Experience

Summary of Position:    The individual in this position has the primary responsibility to recruit and enroll students of the military community to Indiana Wesleyan University’s robust offerings of degree programs and certifications. They will be responsible for developing strategic working alliances and long-term working relationships with military organizations, including the Active, National Guard, and Reserve Components.

This individual will be the face of IWU at military installations. They will provide professional, caring, and faithful service to education offices, current and prospective students, displaying knowledgeable, efficient and productive service with an anytime, anywhere attitude focused on educational opportunities for service members, veterans, their families, and Department of Defense employees. Working in consultation with the Executive Director of Student Relations and Specialized Programs, this person assists in developing and modifying plans to recruit, enroll, and retain students for these programs.

This is a hybrid position that can be worked from any of IWU's education centers located throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply key enrollment and contact strategies to serve students in a timely manner through the process of discovery, admissions, and enrollment process
  • Initiate contact with a new prospective student within 24 hours of the first inquiry
  • Build contacts, establish and maintain positive relationships with base education offices, key military leaders, and current and prospective students in designated regions, including those within the Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, and individual service branches
  • Develop a region plan with key strategies, action plans, and measures related to university goals and objectives
  • Perform outreach to military-related organizations; this requires external program promotion and travel (i.e. travel may require staying overnight)
  • Represent Indiana Wesleyan University on base by:
    • Attending education fairs and other recruiting and awareness events
    • Briefing education office staff on IWU programs, offerings, and policies
    • Ensure that IWU promotional materials are consistently restocked
  • Overseeing remote on-base/site programs and events
  • Work with the Executive Director, and IWU Marketing on any advertising opportunities in base papers and other available means as needed
  • Represent IWU within the military community by:
    • Sponsoring and supporting events
    • Hosting events that support various groups on IWU’s behalf (i.e. luncheon with spouses of deployed service members, veteran transition program, etc.) and ensure their successful execution
  • Ensure Indiana Wesleyan University develops, maintains, and provides the very highest level of service to military installations, base education staff, and students
  • Work with other IWU offices and personnel, like the Military Academic Advisor, Student Account Services, and Registration Change Counselors, to help promote the success and retention of military students
  • Accurately maintain student records to ensure proper reporting, forecasting, and projecting of enrollment efforts and fruitfulness
  • Consult with the Executive Director on the development and implementation of an annual recruitment plan for the various programs
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Relations & Specialized Programs

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Prefer candidates reside within 50 miles of an active military installation
  • Prefer Veteran status and/or work experience in military education
  • Possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement

Required Skills

  • Superior communication skills (spoken, written, group, individual)
  • Comfortable in planning and goal setting
  • Possess an understanding of the military population and familiarity with Distance Learning (online) and Adult Education
  • Ability to increase and maintain positive awareness of IWU within the military and governmental community with a focus on growing enrollment of undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Experience in budget and data analysis and expense reporting
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Possess an understanding of the military community and voluntary education
