Summary of Position:    The School of Theology and Ministry on the residential campus of Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in New Testament to begin in August 2023 (pending funding). In addition to the normal expectations of a professor listed below, responsibilities especially include teaching introductory and upper-level Bible courses with the possibility of some teaching on the graduate level.

The ideal candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, full agreement with the Wesleyan-Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal arts learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses as assigned, especially in the areas of New Testament and biblical studies
  • Teaching Greek New Testament in first-year and second-year courses
  • Ongoing scholarship in one’s area(s) of expertise, including participation in the scholarly guild of biblical studies
  • Ongoing service to the university, the church, and the community, including committee work as assigned

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • Applicants should either have completed a PhD in New Testament or be ABD at the time the position commences


  • Prior teaching experience is valued
  • Pastoral experience in local church ministry is valued
  • Membership or ordination in the Wesleyan Church preferred
  • Willingness to join the Wesleyan Church required

  • Competence in teaching ability, along with an eagerness to improve
  • A strong testimony of personal faith and commitment to Christ is essential, along with an agreement to live according to the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement
  • An embrace of the theology of The Wesleyan Church and the task of training the next generation of ministers in the church
