Summary of Position:    The Nursing XR Simulation Coordinator is a two (2) year grant-funded position with a variety of responsibilities related to the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) grant. Additionally, the coordinator will help develop, implement, and evaluate a specific community-based inter-professional XR simulation in collaboration with community partners. The simulation offering will benefit nursing and social work students at IWU-Marion as well as nurses and providers within the Marion community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • HRSA Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention (NEPQR) Simulation Education Training (SET) Grant: Manage grant funds, budget, and reporting 
  • Routinely communicate with HRSA - project progress and/or alterations, and XR simulation evaluations 
  • Simulation Development: maintain a detail-oriented project implementation plan, communicate regularly with PD, XR support personnel, and outside developers during creation, and learn to facilitate simulations following INACSL standards 
  • Simulation Implementation: Communicate regularly with PD, lab manager, lab secretary, and students during the simulation implementation phase, schedule XR simulations and ensure all students are signed up for simulation experiences, learn to initiate, maintain, and trouble-shoot XR simulation technology, facilitate XR simulations, support simulation facilitators 
  • Simulation Evaluation: Manage all evaluation tools and data collection, keep organized results of all project evaluations 
  • Collaborate with community resources to develop, implement, and evaluate the XR simulations 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • BSN required MSN preferred
  • Current RN License in Indiana


  • Three (3) years experience in full-time, direct patient care practice and/or nursing management
  • An interest in applying gamification principles to nursing education\
  • Experience with simulation learning strategies
  • Experience in informatics preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient with electronic communications
  • Comfortable with emerging technologies such as extended reality
  • Proficient with Office 360 software
