Job Title: IT Project Manager & Business Analyst

Reporting Relationship: Director of Project Management

Unit: Central Administration

Department: It Client Engagement Services - Central Administration

Campus Location: Maxwell Center

Summary of Position:    The IT Project Manager & Business Analyst is responsible for developing and managing technology projects and associated costs, establishing project timelines and scope and guiding projects to completion within agreed upon timelines and standards. Responsibilities include: developing project plans and budgets, communicating with key stakeholders, effectively collaborating with project leads and resources, developing and maintaining project timelines, associated milestones and communication plans, and managing project resources.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and manage project plans 
  • Define project schedules, allocate resources and monitor progress 
  • Align project objectives with institutional goals, and ensure project teams and stakeholders have a common understanding of project deliverables 
  • Deliver and install technology solutions on schedule and within budget parameters
  • Assist project team with the design and development tasks 
  • Lead process of issue identification and resolution 
  • Manage risk tracking process 
  • Monitor and manage scope and alert stakeholders and technology resources in the event of scope changes
  • Oversee project documentation, including project charters 
  • Cultivate partnerships between client, technical teams and stakeholders/sponsors 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, IT or related field

Experience

  • Experience in higher education, preferred
  • Proven ability to onboard and facilitate the execution of complex business projects
  • Customer-facing experience in scoping and analyzing business requirements and objectives
  • Proven customer engagement experience
  • Experience with industry standard Project Management processes

Required Skills

  • Proven work experience in project management or an equivalent combination of training and experience necessary to complete the responsibilities of the position
  • Broad knowledge of business practices, project management and IT systems
    Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with related software tools including but not limited to ProjectManager.com, SmartSheet, MS Excel, etc.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of personalities and constituencies
  • Demonstrated ability to be forward-thinking and innovative while understanding client needs and the capabilities of IWU business processes and technologies
  • Diplomatic and tactful written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence others
  • Deliver powerful presentations and articulate in a confident manner that engages others
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to foster this in others
  • Be an independent, self-initiated worker, as well as a team player
  • Capable of balancing attention to detail with overall project scope to drive results
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Recognize problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent. Evaluates alternatives and drives to optimal solutions
  • Ability to be versatile and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations simultaneously
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking
  • Ability to build business cases and action plans
  • Proactively engage present and future stakeholders in design, priority setting and implementation
  • Demonstrate organizational savvy; understand the organizational functions and general processes
  • Possess meeting management and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of best practices in project management methodologies
  • Employ effective organization and time management techniques
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict in a collaborative manner
