Job Title: Associate Director of Prospect Research & Management

Reporting Relationship: Executive Director of Advancement Operations

Summary of Position:    The Associate Director of Prospect Research and Management reports to the Executive Director of Advancement Operations and is an integral member of the Advancement team. They will help Indiana Wesleyan University to identify prospective donors while also assisting with the management of prospects and donor relationships. They will oversee the management of research, preparing capacity and affinity reports, and ensuring prospects are moved through the engagement cycle. The position will assist with implementing strategies to maintain portfolios, and to keep a dynamic prospect pipeline moving forward.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make certain information on stakeholders is up-to-date, accurate, and properly documented 
  • Proactively identify major and principal gift prospects through conducting research on prospective donors, corporations, and foundations 
  • Organize and evaluate a prospect's willingness to philanthropically partner with IWU 
  • Assist in matching prospect interest to fundraising priorities
  • Synthesize research into reports to inform donor meetings or other donor engagement 
  • Ensure the tracking of follow-up activities to move prospects through the engagement cycle 
  • Stay informed of alumni in the news, philanthropic trends, and current economic events 
  • Create and produce management metrics reports 
  • Participate in training through Apra and CASE seminars and workshops for prospect research and management 
  • Occasional participation in evening and/or weekend activities is required 
  • Other duties as assigned to meet departmental goals and objectives

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, or any combination of acceptable education and professional experience, which provides the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of the position

Experience

  • Two (2+) years' experience in prospect research, library research or information related to the field is preferred

Required Skills

  • High level of discretion
  • Proficient in manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and planning abilities
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail
  • Proficiency in database management and Microsoft Office Suite
