Summary of Position:    The School of Educational Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for an Early Childhood Education Full-time Faculty opening. Responsibilities include full time teaching in the Early Childhood Education program (Undergraduate and Graduate) as well as in other graduate degree program classes in the online modality. The position will also serve as the Department Chair; responsibilities include curriculum development, accreditation preparation, scholarship, committee service, mentoring of adjunct faculty, attending meetings and graduation. The candidate must possess a Doctorate in Early Childhood education, P-12 teaching experience, online teaching experience, and academic credentialing in the area of Early Childhood Education. Successful candidates must be committed to a Christ-centered approach to education and comfortable with the Wesleyan theological perspective.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a mature personal faith in Jesus Christ and willingly embraces the theological and lifestyle commitments of The Wesleyan Church 
  • Exercise mature spiritual leadership in all aspects of the department
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the Early Childhood Education programs 
  • Provide mentoring and supervision to the adjunct instructors
  • Fulfill full time teaching load requirements within the Early Childhood Education program (and/or graduate/doctoral degree programs as needed)
  • Direct and oversee curriculum development and accreditation within the Early Childhood Education department
  • Achieve related/required scholarship 
  • Serve on various University and CAPS committees 
  • Provide mentoring and supervision to program Full-time Faculty and adjunct instructors 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • A Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, or closely related field as defined by NAEYC


  • A minimum of three (3) years P-12 teaching experience on a standard teaching license including academic credentialing in the area of Early Childhood
  • Online teaching experience at the college/university level, graduate teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum writing; experience with program accreditation preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
