Summary of Position:    The Associate Director of Admissions leads a team of admissions professionals responsible to meet or exceed established incoming first-year student recruitment goals. The Associate Director serves as a member of the Office of Admissions leadership team and assists with the development and implementation of operational and strategic initiatives to meet first-year student goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of freshman admissions counselors by establishing clear expectations along with timely continuous feedback and guidance
  • Oversee the hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of freshman admissions counselors
  • Monitor key performance metrics (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) that allow for strategy pivots and staff professional development opportunities 
  • Develop territory recruitment goals and admission funnel metrics that align with overall incoming freshman recruitment goals 
  • Utilize CRM and other available technology to drive recruitment efforts and monitor results 
  • Work with each admissions counselor to develop a comprehensive travel plan (fall, winter, spring, summer) that strategically aligns with overall territory recruitment goals
  • Help establish a pro-active culture which lives out our "known and valued" team value with potential students to the freshman application review process 
  • Provide oversight to the freshman application review process 
  • Utilize data provided by external vendors to enhance targeted recruitment efforts 
  • Maximize the effectiveness of the student calling team through supervision of the Call Center Manager
  • Travel to represent the university at recruitment events as necessary to support overall recruitment travel efforts 
  • The Associate Director of Admissions will supervise a team of admissions counselors (7-9) and the Manager of Student Tele-Communications 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • Bachelor's Degree required


  • Experience in admissions, sales, case management, or marketing/communications is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Experience in supervising sales teams is preferred
  • Demonstration of a clear commitment to pursuing the greatest good for students and communities, including promoting student success

Required Skills

  • Proven success in leading a team of professionals toward an established enrollment goal
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and be supervised
  • Extensive use of CRM software
  • Exceptional communication skills across multiple mediums, including phone, text, email, and in-person
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence, friendliness/warmth, and conversational skills
  • Capabilities operating comfortably, effectively, and efficiently within MS Office systems
  • Ability to work accurately and be detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible in a highly dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated with strong time management skills
