Summary of Position:    The Assistant Manager will conduct inspections related to safety regulations, participate in building walkthroughs and provide information regarding any issues in the Art + Design Facilities, assist with record keeping and data processing necessary for safety regulations and divisional purposes, will assist students in our Mac Lab, and will monitor and service some equipment throughout the Art + Design Division.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly and monthly inspections of safety equipment as guided by regulations 
  • Monitory supply levels on various pieces of equipment, safety materials, and inventories like inks, papers, etc.
  • Spend regularly scheduled time in the Mac Lab to assist students and assist with day-to-day maintenance 
  • Assist with light maintenance of equipment (printers, scanners, shop equipment) and logs and reports errors and issues 
  • Handle data processing like logging budget entries, inspections and certification records, procurement forms, studio approvals, and maintains databases used within the Division of Art + Design
  • Participate in large scale annual projects like our chemical inventory and preparations for division events like Spotlight Visit Day or the annual lab pack 
  • Inspect our facilities for damages, report issues, submit work orders 
  • Assist with waste and material management 
  • Meet regularly with the Art + Design Facilities Administrator to report on issues and discuss initiatives within the Division of Art + Design

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • A Masters in Fine Arts or Masters in Art degree preferred


  • Familiarity with studio practices
  • Proficiency with word processing, productivity software, and Adobe software on the Mac platform

Required Skills

  • Able to communicate ideas clearly both in writing and verbally
  • Good time management skills and able to work autonomously
  • Good record keeping and note taking
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite, printing software and hardware, Apple UI, and other digital media programs
  • Ability to conduct regular safety inspections
  • Able to assist processing supply orders and accurately make entries into budget logs
  • Able to understand and prioritize competing tasks
  • Apply creative problem solving to safety, student concerns, and building improvements
  • Should be meticulous and detail oriented
