Summary of Position:    This position is part of a team with a diverse skill set, responsible for improving, researching, analyzing, troubleshooting, and consulting on UIT-supported software applications and systems, as well as integrating and developing new and existing software, databases, and reporting solutions in web and/or desktop contexts. Some key languages used are C#, UniBasic, T-SQL, HTML/XML/XSLT, CSS, and Javascript (with emphasis on jQuery and KnockoutJS). Individuals are encouraged and guided to specialize and cross-train. Of primary focus are Azure DevOps, ERP, CRM, Document Imaging, and Web applications.

Each member of the Software Development Team is expected to be a team player, communicate effectively, complete high-quality work, be productive, focus on assigned work, and adhere to IWU's standard of ethics. This position is accountable to teammates, clients, and IT leadership to fulfill the duties and responsibilities defined.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and develop:
    • Enterprise software and databases
    • Reports and utilities
    • Interfaces with third party software and systems 
  • Facilitate communication with clients, coworkers, and vendors 
  • Possess good interpersonal skills 
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, applications, and projects
  • Provide consultation on IT projects as a subject matter advisor/resource as applicable based on skillset and experience 
  • Complete assignments according to stated expectations 

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related filed preferred


  • Two (2) years of experience with software development and one year of experience in general database programming
  • Microsoft/Apple operating systems, Microsoft Office products, and a specialization in Ellucian Administrative software, report-writing tools or ASP.NET (Web Form and MVC), Git version control system

Required Skills

  • Use keyboard for extended time intervals
  • Read from a computer monitor for extended time intervals
  • Work productively in an open environment
  • Position may occasionally require planned or unplanned after-hours work
  • Position may be stressful during resolution of critical events
